I did poetry, for the first time in a while. And it's nice because I don't actually despise it.

The beach

You wake
I wake
In the husk of what was once there
A year gone by

We clung to each other desperately
Back then
Loneliness throws people together
And we collided particles

This love is now stale
I don’t have time
And you don’t have time
malnourished and grey

You snip at my crust
My outer shell
I look upon you
Like a bawlingly helpless infant
Nothing I can really do

The truth is I’m selfish
I climb among friends like hard stones
To get to the water
The divinity, the goal

And to be amongst the stones you must be hard
To survive the long stretch
To make it
To the sea

Britpop Childhood: A Playlist

So naturally the appearance of such shows like "My Mad Fat Diary", "The Office" and "I'm Alan Partridge" have really re-introduced a lot of music from my childhood, gems such as "Beautiful Ones" by Suede and "Brimful of Asha"have lit up my spotify and made a lot of my walks into uni way happier and bouncier.

Rae on her way to the Oasis concert at Knebworth, sporting the round sunglasses that Liam and previously, John Lennon, made well-known.

Coincidentally, I made this playlist for my best friend of 17 years back in December for her 21st birthday, it's a little snapshot of the cultural influences that well- influenced us during the 1990s. Look out for ZZAP!, Alan Partridge's beautiful face and a character from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, along with various musicians including Manic Street Preachers and such 90s landmark events like Oasis ripping the piss out of Blur at the 1996 Brit Awards.

Britpop Childhood: THE PLAYLIST.
And well, this fascination I have at the mo with the 1990s can't help but seep into my art work. Suede's Beautiful Ones lyrics on a sewn piece.
